About

My research focuses on tests of Lorentz invariance, the symmetry behind Special Relativity. Attempts to formulate a theory of everything - a theory uniting all known forces into a single force - suggest that tiny defects in Special Relativity might arise. These defects would appear as violations of Lorentz invariance in the two foundational theories of modern physics, the Standard Model of particle physics and General Relativity. Examples of tests resulting from my work include table-top experiments utilizing electromagnetic resonant cavities, searches for Lorentz violation in neutrino oscillations, and studies of the cosmic microwave background. Students interested in getting involved in this type of research can contact me via email or stop by my office.
